Severe Gum Infection Mandates Surgical Intervention

Severe periodontal disease or gum infection mandates for surgical intervention for this condition can not be treated by brushing alone. The gums and tooth here are totally damaged by bacteria and infection causing pain, swelling, redness and very receded gums are present. There are several surgical procedures that can be done that vary depending on the severity of the disease. Pocket depth reduction can be done to eliminate bacteria which is important to prevent further damage. Regeneration procedure is also recommended to reverse some damage by regenerating lost bone and tissues by bone-graft that facilitates the body’s capacity to regenerate bone and tissues again and reduce pocket depth in the tooth. All these surgeries only become effective and a success if we associate these with proper diet, hygiene and tooth care.
