Numerous risk factors are found to have great impact on dental and oral health of every individual. Smokers have a lot of reason to quit that unhealthy habit of smoking as it is one of the significant risk factors that is associated with the development of gum disease and can lower the chance of success to some treatments. Diabetic people are at high risk for developing certain infections such as gum disease. Medical studies shows that stress can make our bodies weak in fighting infections. Drugs and certain medications can greatly impact oral health as they can lower salivation. Remember that saliva can help protect teeth and gums. The health of gums can be affected by diseases like AIDS. Because of genetic susceptibility, some people are subject to gum disease compared to others. Taking care of dental and oral health are the best bet in preventing the onslaught of bacteria causing gum disease.
